Conferences/Workshops at ‘The Edge' - 2010
Thank you for your interest in our Conference/Workshop Venue, 'The Tyhume Room' (pronounced Too-me).
As a bit of background, Hogsback was recently voted one of the top ten most beautiful places to visit in South Africa , and 'The Edge', which is surrounded by cliffs, dramatic views and indigenous forest, compliments this pristine, natural environment.
The area is also steeped in history, and in the 1800's, it was from these very cliffs along the Hogsback escarpment that the Xhosa warriors descended into the Tyhume Valley to engage in battle with the British Frontier Troops. One of these battles was the famous Christmas Day Massacre of 1850.
Herewith is some general information on 'The Tyhume Room' and 'The Edge', as well as samples of the various packages we offer. Should you require extra days or should you have any other special requirements for your group, we would be happy to negotiate specific packages.
'The Tyhume Room'
Our lovely new venue has spectacular views over our Labyrinth (one of the largest in the world), the Tyhume Valley , and for a 100 miles beyond. It is the perfect space for functions, training, strategic planning workshops, conferences etc.
The venue is light and spacious, and is suitable for a maximum of 50 people. The space is approximately 15 X 7 meters and has ample ventilation, excellent lighting, and 8 double power points. It has ablution facilities and is wheelchair friendly. Since our aim at 'The Edge' is to provide a gentle, peaceful and relaxing environment for our guests, we regretfully can only accept functions that will not disturb the tranquil environment that we wish to preserve.
Daily Rates:
'The Tyhume Room' is available for a day workshop from 8am until 5pm.
If necessary different times can be arranged in advance.
Included are:
The hire of 'The Tyhume Room', bottles of mineral water and mints on the tables.
Morning and Afternoon Tea and Coffee with snacks.
2 Course Lunch with one soft drink.
Rate: R190.00 per person inclusive R221.00 commissionable
Service Fee:
Please note that a service fee of 10% on the restaurant and bar tab will be added to your final account.
Overnight rates:
'The Tyhume Room' is available daily from 8am until 5pm (if necessary, different times can be arranged in advance).
Included are:
The hire of 'The Tyhume Room', with bottle mineral water, mints, note pads and pens.
3 - Course Evening Dinner with one soft drink.
Full Breakfast with tea/coffee.
2 Course Lunch with one soft drink, tea/coffee.
Morning and Afternoon Tea and Coffee with scones or sandwiches.

'Tea Thyme'
'Tea Thyme', our restaurant, bar and lounge area also has beautiful views into the distance and is surrounded by pretty gardens with large shady oak trees. It has two log fireplaces and is very cozy in winter.
Specific menu requirements and meal times for your group can be arranged in advance with our chef.
A beer, wine and spirit menu is available.
Accommodation at 'The Edge'
At 'The Edge' we have 16 comfortable cottages and 10 en-suite rooms. All the cottages and en-suite rooms are set in 15 acres of beautiful gardens. The cottages all have lots of character, are comfortably furnished, have log fireplaces, and those perched on the edge of the cliff have spectacular views.
Accommodation is made up as follows:
12 cottages each with 1 double bed.
1 two-bedroom (both en-suite) cottage with 1 double bed and 2 single beds.
1 two-bedroom cottage (sharing one bathroom) with 1 double bed and 2 single beds.
2 one-bedroom cottages each with 2 single beds.
9 en-suite rooms each with 1 double bed.
1 en-suite room with 2 single beds.
Total 23 Double beds
